Engineering: Winter, Week 4

The kids in engineering this week were especially interested in The Empire State building this week, spurred on by Myla mentioning that she had been up to the observation deck and the reading that we did in Super Structures. We talked quite a bit about how tall the Empire State Building is relative to Childroots, our own houses, and The Leaning Tower of Pisa, which came up when we noticed that our popsicle stick tower was beginning to tilt a bit. From there, we moved on to Skyscraper, which talked a bit more about the process of erecting such a large building, from an architect designing the building to digging the foundation to building the frame. Very exciting!
